Welcome to SATI Shipping Containers. These Self Storage Terms & Conditions govern the use of our self-storage container rental services. By renting or using one of our storage containers, you agree to comply with these terms. Please read them carefully before entering into a storage agreement.
1. Introduction
SATI Shipping Containers provides secure and convenient self-storage solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, and construction purposes throughout South Africa. These Terms & Conditions form part of the storage agreement between SATI Shipping Containers (“we,” “our,” or “us”) and the customer (“you” or “your”).
2. Storage Agreement
Your storage rental begins on the agreed commencement date stated in your rental agreement and continues until terminated by either party in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.
The customer confirms that all information provided during the booking process is accurate and complete.
3. Rental Payments
Storage rental fees must be paid in advance according to the agreed billing schedule.
Payments may be made using approved payment methods offered by SATI Shipping Containers.
Failure to make payments on time may result in:
- Late payment fees.
- Suspension of access to the storage container.
- Collection procedures.
- Termination of the storage agreement where permitted by law.
4. Security Deposit
Where applicable, a refundable security deposit may be required before storage begins.
The deposit may be used to cover:
- Outstanding rental fees.
- Damage beyond normal wear and tear.
- Cleaning costs where necessary.
- Loss of keys or locks supplied by SATI Shipping Containers.
- Any other costs permitted under the storage agreement.
Any remaining balance will be refunded after inspection, subject to these Terms & Conditions.
5. Customer Responsibilities
The customer agrees to:
- Store only lawful goods.
- Keep the storage container clean and secure.
- Use suitable locks to secure the container.
- Notify SATI Shipping Containers of any changes to contact information.
- Avoid damaging the container.
- Comply with all applicable South African laws and regulations.
The customer remains solely responsible for all items stored within the container.
6. Prohibited Items
The following items must not be stored in any container:
- Explosive materials.
- Flammable liquids or gases.
- Firearms or ammunition unless lawfully permitted and declared where required.
- Illegal drugs or prohibited substances.
- Hazardous chemicals.
- Toxic or radioactive materials.
- Perishable food likely to spoil.
- Live animals or plants.
- Waste materials.
- Stolen goods.
- Any item whose storage is prohibited by South African law.
SATI Shipping Containers reserves the right to refuse storage where prohibited goods are suspected.
7. Access to Your Storage Container
Customers may access their storage containers during approved operating hours or as otherwise agreed.
Access may be temporarily restricted for:
- Emergency maintenance.
- Safety concerns.
- Legal requirements.
- Non-payment of rental fees.
- Scheduled facility maintenance.
Customers must follow all on-site safety and security procedures.
8. Insurance
Unless specifically agreed in writing, SATI Shipping Containers does not automatically insure the contents stored within rented containers.
Customers are strongly encouraged to obtain appropriate insurance covering:
- Theft.
- Fire.
- Flood.
- Storm damage.
- Accidental damage.
- Other risks affecting stored property.
The customer is responsible for determining the value of their stored goods and arranging suitable insurance.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to help protect stored containers through measures that may include:
- Controlled site access.
- Security fencing.
- Surveillance systems where installed.
- Lighting.
- Routine property inspections.
While we strive to maintain a secure environment, no storage facility can guarantee absolute protection against theft, vandalism, fire, or natural disasters.
10. Damage and Liability
SATI Shipping Containers is not liable for loss of or damage to goods stored in a container except where such liability cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
We are not responsible for losses resulting from:
- Customer negligence.
- Improper packing.
- Moisture or condensation caused by stored items.
- Pest infestation introduced by stored goods.
- Natural disasters.
- Civil unrest.
- Theft or vandalism beyond our reasonable control.
- Power failures affecting customer-owned equipment.
Customers should regularly inspect and maintain their stored property where appropriate.
11. Maintenance and Repairs
Customers must not:
- Paint the container.
- Drill holes.
- Weld.
- Cut or modify the container.
- Install permanent fixtures without written approval.
Any damage caused by the customer may result in repair charges.
12. Termination of Storage Agreement
Either party may terminate the storage agreement by providing the required notice specified in the rental contract.
Before vacating the container, customers must:
- Remove all belongings.
- Remove personal locks.
- Leave the container clean.
- Return any keys or access devices provided.
- Settle all outstanding charges.
Failure to remove stored items may result in additional storage charges or action permitted by applicable law.
13. Privacy
Personal information collected during the storage rental process is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable South African data protection laws.
14. Amendments
SATI Shipping Containers may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Updated versions will be published on our website and will take effect from the date of publication.
15. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of South Africa.
