By hiring a container from us, you agree to comply with the terms outlined below. Please read these conditions carefully before entering into a hire agreement.

1. Introduction

SATI Shipping Containers provides high-quality shipping container hire solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, construction, mining, agricultural, and government projects throughout South Africa. These Terms & Conditions form a legally binding agreement between SATI Shipping Containers (“we,” “our,” or “us”) and the customer (“you” or “your”).

2. Eligibility to Hire

To hire a shipping container, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Provide accurate contact and billing information.
  • Have the legal authority to enter into a rental agreement.
  • Agree to these Hire Terms & Conditions.

Businesses may be required to provide company registration details or other documentation where necessary.

3. Hire Period

The hire period begins on the agreed delivery date and continues until the container is collected by SATI Shipping Containers or returned in accordance with the rental agreement.

Minimum hire periods may apply depending on the container type and location.

If you wish to extend the hire period, please contact us before the scheduled end date. Extensions are subject to availability and additional rental charges.

4. Rental Charges

Rental fees are calculated based on:

  • Container size.
  • Type of container.
  • Hire duration.
  • Delivery location.
  • Collection location.
  • Additional services requested.

All charges will be clearly communicated before your booking is confirmed.

Rental payments must be made according to the agreed payment schedule.

Late payments may incur administrative fees, interest where permitted by law, or suspension of services.

5. Delivery and Collection

SATI Shipping Containers will arrange delivery and collection to the agreed location.

Customers are responsible for ensuring:

  • Safe and unrestricted access for delivery vehicles.
  • Adequate space for unloading and collection.
  • A firm, level surface suitable for container placement.
  • Compliance with any local regulations or site requirements.

If delivery or collection cannot be completed due to restricted access or unsafe conditions, additional charges may apply.

6. Customer Responsibilities

During the hire period, the customer agrees to:

  • Keep the container secure and locked.
  • Use the container only for lawful purposes.
  • Maintain the container in good condition.
  • Protect the container from avoidable damage.
  • Immediately report any loss, theft, or damage.
  • Prevent unauthorized alterations or modifications.

The customer is responsible for the container until it is collected by SATI Shipping Containers.

7. Prohibited Uses

The hired container must not be used for:

  • Storing hazardous or explosive materials.
  • Illegal activities.
  • Housing people or animals unless specifically designed and approved for that purpose.
  • Storing prohibited or dangerous substances.
  • Waste disposal.
  • Activities that may damage the container or surrounding property.

Failure to comply may result in immediate termination of the hire agreement.

8. Container Condition

All containers are inspected before delivery to ensure they meet the agreed condition.

Customers should inspect the container upon delivery and notify SATI Shipping Containers immediately if any concerns are identified.

Unless otherwise agreed, used containers may display cosmetic wear consistent with previous service while remaining structurally sound and fit for their intended purpose.

9. Damage and Repairs

The customer is responsible for any damage beyond normal wear and tear occurring during the hire period.

Examples include:

  • Impact damage.
  • Unauthorized welding or cutting.
  • Graffiti.
  • Fire damage.
  • Missing components.
  • Structural alterations.

Repair or replacement costs may be charged where applicable.

10. Insurance

Customers are responsible for arranging suitable insurance for:

  • Goods stored within the container.
  • Loss or theft of contents.
  • Public liability where applicable.
  • Damage occurring during the hire period.

SATI Shipping Containers does not automatically insure the customer’s stored property unless expressly stated in writing.

11. Ownership

All hired shipping containers remain the exclusive property of SATI Shipping Containers.

The customer acquires no ownership rights through the hire agreement and may not sell, sublet, assign, or transfer possession of the container without our prior written consent.

12. Early Termination

Customers wishing to terminate the hire agreement before the agreed end date should contact SATI Shipping Containers.

Depending on the rental agreement, early termination may be subject to:

  • Minimum hire charges.
  • Collection fees.
  • Outstanding rental payments.
  • Any applicable administrative costs.

13. Collection of the Container

Before collection, customers must ensure that:

  • All personal belongings have been removed.
  • The container is empty.
  • The container is reasonably clean.
  • Access is available for collection vehicles.
  • Any customer-owned locks have been removed.

Additional charges may apply if collection cannot be completed due to customer-related delays.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, SATI Shipping Containers shall not be liable for:

  • Loss or damage to stored goods.
  • Business interruption.
  • Loss of profits.
  • Indirect or consequential losses.
  • Delays caused by weather, road closures, strikes, or events beyond our reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it cannot legally be excluded.

15. Force Majeure

SATI Shipping Containers shall not be held responsible for delays or failures in performance resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, severe weather, civil unrest, labour disputes, governmental actions, or transportation disruptions.

16. Privacy

Any personal information collected in connection with your hire agreement will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable South African data protection legislation.

17. Changes to These Terms

SATI Shipping Containers reserves the right to update these Hire Terms & Conditions at any time. Revised terms will be published on our website and will apply from the stated effective date.

18. Governing Law

These Hire Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from this agreement shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
